The Consistent Bullsh*t You’re Being Told, And What’s Actually True:

"Niche down more. Shrink it. Get more specific.”

→ As if shrinking yourself is going to flip some magic switch. As if cutting parts of what you do suddenly creates power. Spoiler alert, it doesn’t. Power comes from clarity around the core outcome you deliver, around your zone of genius. If you’re not anchoring on your genius, you just become smaller.

“You just need better hooks.”

→ I am a 6 figure messaging & positioning coach and I could not care less about your hooks. A better hook is a band-aid, it’s the cherry on top. It might get attention for a second, but attention means nothing if the depth underneath your brand isn’t positioned properly. A stronger hook just brings more visibility to something that still isn’t clear, and that will not convert. That’s not a hook problem. That’s a foundation problem.

“Follow proven content frameworks.”

→ Frameworks organise information. They don’t create conviction. They don’t make someone feel your depth. You can follow every format perfectly and still sound like everyone else if the core of what you’re saying isn’t anchored in a clear outcome.

“Rotate content types. Educational. Authority. Opinion. Value.”

→ The buyer doesn’t know what any of that means. They’re not sitting there thinking, oh this is her authority post. They’re asking one thing: do I understand what she actually does and why it matters? If that’s not immediately clear, no content type in the world is going to save it.

“Be more consistent. Post more.”

→ Of course you need to be consistent, but let’s be clear here… consistency multiplies what already exists. If your positioning is sharp, consistency builds momentum. If your positioning is diluted, consistency just creates more diluted content. More of something unclear will never create demand.

“Your content strategy is the problem.”

→ Content strategy is something you create once you are crystal clear on how to position and talk about your work in a way that converts high-ticket clients on repeat. Content is the expression. Positioning is the core. If the core isn’t defined, you’ll keep adjusting the surface. You’ll tweak, optimise, experiment. But the real issue is that your zone of genius hasn’t been translated into something the buyer can categorise quickly.

 “Just refine your messaging.”

→ I am a messaging coach, I LOVE refining people’s message. But messaging without anchored positioning becomes generic. You can be genuinely excellent at what you do and still describe it in a way that blends in. Because from your perspective it’s obvious. From the buyer’s perspective, it’s not clear at all.

From a buyer’s perspective, none of the structural details matter as much as you think.

They don’t care about your hook formula. They don’t care what framework you followed. They don’t care how many times a week you posted. They care about how it feels to read you. How quickly they understand the outcome you create. How certain and grounded you sound.

If your zone of genius isn’t positioned through a clearly defined outcome, everything feels heavier. Conversations take longer. Offers need context. Content needs explanation.
